Renewable Energy Opportunities for Aboriginal Community Development
Green energy and community power represent the next great opportunity for Aboriginal communities and industry in Ontario. It is estimated that over 50,000 jobs will be created in the green energy sector in the next 3 years which will drive over $10 billion worth of revenue.
It is a goal at the Community Power Conference to ensure that all Aboriginal communities in Ontario have a chance to take advantage of what is surely the most exciting and positive economic opportunity presented to Ontario in the last 50 years.
Aboriginal curriculum will highlight 4 themes:
- Renewable Energy Opportunities for Aboriginal communities: current picture and the strategic advantages of Aboriginal businesses
- Capacity: success stories and implementation challenges, regional analysis, workforce development, training and employment, relationship building
- Land Use and Consultation: best practices for community, legal, administrative, and regulatory success
- Business Development: Green Energy Act programs, financing models, and innovative partnerships for success
The information, renewable energy tours and networking that will be offered at this conference is vital to successful community development, local job creation and sustainable revenue streams for Aboriginal communities.
