A&T ENERGY is a company based in Kapuskasing, Ontario that develops and maintains strategic partnerships with Northeastern Ontario Communities and Private industry in order to build a regional competitive investment climate and market Northeastern Ontario as the location of choice for Canadian and international businesses. Founded by a group of local entrepreneurs, A&T ENERGY uses an alternative and thoughtful business approach aimed at diversifying its traditionally resource-based industry, stimulating new domestic and foreign investment and cultivating the vast potential of Ontario's emerging green sector economy.

Under the legislation of the Green Energy and Economy Act (GEEA), the internationally acclaimed Feed-In-Tariff (FIT) Program is the Province's principal procurement method designed to enable equity in the access to supplying the market on the part of community and commercial energy. The GEEA represents significant opportunity and potential to reduce damage to the environment and human health, lower the carbon footprint, enable deployment of renewable distribution generation and create sustainable jobs. There is also great potential for community engagement and knowledge transfer, economic development benefits and commercial opportunities. A&T ENERGY understands that the Province's Long Term Energy Plan must be addressed in an Integrated Pan-Northern Power System Plan in order to diversify this resource dependant region. The potential of a Green Economy is staggering and to that end, A&T ENERGY's vision is to harness the broader goals of the Province, particularly Northeastern Ontario. The importance of community owned power generation is more than simply meeting need for power to drive local industry, it is about maximizing the local impacts of economic development. As a demonstration project, A&T ENERGY will build, own and operate an 8 megawatt (MW) solar electric generating facility which will showcase made-in-Northern-Ontario renewable energy.

A&T ENERGY has initiated and managed a partnership with two regional communities and their EDC's in direct response to the calls of the Governments of Canada and Ontario to support the sustainable development of Canada's Northern and resource-dependent communities. This partnership has been awarded funds by Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada, NCIR and its regional CFDC to harness the capacity of its local communities to attract, retain and expand direct investment. The partnership has successfully developed a sustainable regional competitive investment climate and is now marketing its region.

A&T ENERGY has highly experienced research and management assets that bring together senior professionals in a range of disciplines for specific assignments which require high value added input to questions of construction, financial planning and economic analysis, policy development, organization and management, engineering, operational efficiency, strategic and market analysis. Its partners have a successful track record of investment in and operation of private business.

Johanne Baril, C.D. is a founding member of A&T ENERGY and was appointed President in April 2010. A&T ENERGY has chosen to serve OSEA after recognizing the potential to move the North towards sustainable and restorative societies and economies. As an active member, Johanne serves as Co-Chair of its Policy Advisory Committee. Johanne also serves on four CanSIA Working Groups, is a Director for the Val Rita-Harty Economic Community Development Corporation and sits on the Northeastern Community Network's (NeCN) mining steering committee. Over the past 20 years, Ms Baril held a variety of senior management positions in the private sector, served 12 years in the Royal Canadian Air Force, is a graduate of both the CF School of Communications and Electronics and School of Administration and Logistics and is twice decorated for her honorable service in Somalia and Canada. A&T ENERGY also relies on over 80 years of experience in the construction sector for commercial, institutional and industrial development. Roger Lachance and Claude Baril (Lachance Construction) have overseen numerous projects in the Kapuskasing region, including their current work in construction management for the development of four (4) 5.5MW hydro-electric projects.
